First Fridays: Educators of Color is a welcoming and inclusive community for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students of color at Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development. This monthly gathering provides a safe and supportive space for students to share their experiences navigating a predominantly white institution (PWI) and beyond.
Join us for:
Authenticity and Vulnerability
Students are encouraged to be their authentic selves and share their experiences without judgment. This creates a safe space for open dialogue and emotional support.
Diverse Topics
Discussions cover a wide range of topics related to race, gender, sexuality, ableism, heteronormativity, white supremacy, and anti-Blackness. This allows students to explore various aspects of their identities and experiences.
Networking Opportunities
First Fridays offers opportunities for students of color to connect with professionals and alumni of color from various local colleges. This networking can help students build relationships, gain insights, and expand their professional networks.
Organizational Connections
Students can connect with local organizations that support students of color. This can provide valuable resources, mentorship, and opportunities for involvement.
Community Building
First Fridays fosters a sense of community among students of color. This can be especially important for graduate and doctoral students who may feel isolated or marginalized.
Feel at Home
Experience a sense of belonging and camaraderie within a supportive network.
We look forward to seeing you!
